• WALKING.

The walking from La Luna is superb, you'll experience some of the best the Ecuadorean Andes have to offer.
You can take a short stroll to nearby waterfalls and beauty spots or an all day hike to the high altitude Mojanda lakes. You'll see snowcapped peaks, beautiful lakes, lush vegetation, Andean wildlife and experience climactic changes.

• MOJANDA LAKES.

These spectacular high altitude lakes are just 10 km from La Luna and can be easily accessed on foot or by taxi.
The Lakes are surrounded by towering peaks on all sides and high montane cloud forest still grows .Guests have recently reported seeing the Andean condor. The area is highly picturesque and offers unlimited walking oppurtunities.

• OTAVALO MARKET

The world famous Otavalo market is unmissable and can be easily visited from La Luna. The walk from here to the market takes under an hour and is very beautiful.
For those wanting to see traditional weaving techniques in use or wanting to buy some high quality weaving the Indian villages of Agato and Peguche are a must.

• CLIMBING

There are several excellent climbing oppurtunities from here all of which provide memorable views and good acclimatization for the country's higher peaks.
The nearby Fuya Fuya (4263m) is the highest of the peaks that surround the Mojanda Lakes. It takes just 3 hours up and down from the main lake and the summit views are wonderful.
A more challenging climb is Imbabura (4621m) ,one of Northern Ecuador's most beautiful peaks. It can be climbed from here in about 8 hours.
